This conference is of particular interest to
physicians, residents, psychologists,
social workers, nurses, counselors and
other health professionals working or interested in
the field of substance abuse and mental health
disorders.
Purpose
and Content
The AAAP Addiction Update provides the opportunity
to learn the latest
developments in the science and
treatment of substance abuse and mental health
problems from the experts in the field.
Educational
Objectives
Upon conclusion of this conference, participants
will be able to:
1.
Discuss new advances in the pharmacotherapy and
psychotherapy of
alcohol, stimulant, and nicotine
addictive
disorders in adolescents, college
students, and adults.
2. Identify new strategies for putting new research
findings into practice.
3. Describe specific approaches in the evaluation
and treatment of
adolescents with co-morbid disorders.
4. Identify the molecular mechanisms that are
altered following drug and
alcohol use.
5. Discuss the role of neurosteroids in alcohol
drinking and relapse.
