Job description: As an Addiction Psychiatrist within our Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Service, you will play a critical role in providing specialized care to patients with complex medical issues and substance use disorders across various medical and surgical settings, including ICUs, Transplant, RUSK Rehabilitation, and Langone Orthopedic Hospital. You will collaborate with a dynamic team of healthcare professionals, including addiction social workers, to deliver comprehensive, patient- centered care. Our CL Psychiatry team provides for a supportive and engaging working environment. We are committed to the cultivation of the next generation’s leaders in the field. The CL Psychiatry Service Director provides mentoring to assure optimal professional development of our faculty attendings.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Care: Provide expert consultation and treatment for admitted patients with substance use disorders, including co-occurring mental health conditions, as part of the CL Psychiatry service. Comfort in providing harm reduction and patient-centered care is essential.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with medical and surgical services to provide expert addiction psychiatry consultation and treatment recommendations.
  • Education & Training: Participate in the education of medical students, psychiatry residents, and fellows (CL, Addiction Medicine, Addiction Psychiatry), including providing direct supervision and mentorship related to Addiction and CL Psychiatry.
  • Leadership & Innovation: Contribute to the development of policies and protocols related to the management of substance use disorders in the inpatient medical setting, ensuring the highest standards of care and best practices. Formal leadership opportunity exists for interested and qualified candidates.

Required education/experience:
Fellowship training in Addiction Psychiatry, with a strong background or interest in CL psychiatry.

Required licenses/certifications:

  • Board Certification: Board-certified or Board-Eligible in Addiction Psychiatry
  • Licensure: Valid and unrestricted medical license in New York State.
