Job description:
- Collaborates closely with the clinical supervisor as part of the management team for the addiction outpatient clinic.
- Oversees all medical staff, including Nurse Practitioners, Fellows, Residents, Medical Students, and Observers working in the clinic.
- Supervises addiction fellows during consultation services and provides coverage for attending physicians in their absence.
- Evaluates new patients in need of psychiatric care within two weeks of their admission.
- Participates in weekly staff meetings.
- Attends Safety and Quality Committee (SQC) meetings when requested by Vice Chair
- Provides psychiatric consultations to the inpatient team as needed.
- Oversees all regulatory policies and procedures related to site visits by monitoring and licensing agencies, including OASAS, OMH, DOH, and Joint Commission.
- Leads program development and provides leadership within the AIMS initiative.
- Reports directly to the Chief of Addiction Services
- Demonstrates the know and skills necessary to provide care, based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate to the age of the patients served in assigned area.
- Supervise Psychiatry residents in their outpatient clinic
- Staff the Mount Sinai Morningside Addiction Consultation service at least 4 months per year
- Administrative responsibility for addiction psychiatry fellowship program. recruitment of fellows, arranging and coordinating schedules and didactics, supervision of fellows
Required education/experience:
- Doctor of medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy.
- Completion of an ACGME Residency in Psychiatry
- Completion of an ACGME fellowship in Addiction Psychiatry
Required licenses/certifications:
- Maintains active New York State license
- DEA registration
- Board certified in addiction Psychiatry
