AAAP can provide physician, nursing, pharmacy, PA, psychology, social work, and dental continuing education credits to our learners through Joint Accreditation Council’s unified application process and set of accreditation standards.
Joint Accreditation Statement
In support of improving patient care, American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry has also added accreditation for other disciplines and some of our activities offer credits for them as well. Please see below a comprehensive list of credits offered through AAAP’s approval as a Jointly Accredited Provider™.
Physicians
AAAP is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
PAs
AAAP has been authorized by the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria.
Pharmacists & Pharmacy Technicians
AAAP is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education through AAAP’s Joint Accreditation provider #4008192.
Nurses
American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry is an approved provider of nursing continuing education through AAAP’s Joint Accreditation provider #4008192.
Social Workers
As a Jointly Accredited Organization, American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry (AAAP) is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses are approved under this program. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. AAAP maintains responsibility for the courses and (when appropriate) social workers receive continuing education credit for them.
Psychologists
Continuing Education (CE) credits for psychologists are provided through AAAP’s Joint Accreditation provider #4008192.
Dentists
American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry is an ADA CERP Recognized Provider. ADA CERP is a service of the American Dental Association to assist dental professionals in identifying quality providers of continuing dental education. ADA CERP does not approve or endorse individual courses or instructors, nor does it imply acceptance of credit hours by boards of dentistry. Concerns or complaints about a CE provider may be directed to the provider or to the Commission for Continuing Education Provider Recognition at ADA.org/CERP.
Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE)
For activities planned by and for the healthcare team, learners will receive Interprofessional Continuing Education credits for learning and change.
Other Health Professionals
Some of the educational activities presented by AAAP offer participants a certificate stating the program is designated for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. This credit is accepted by the AANP and the AAPA.
